  • Workforce Investment Board meeting on Feb. 14 to focus on aerospace

    The Pima County Workforce Investment Board will hear from representatives of aerospace and defense and supporting manufacturers at its monthly meeting on Friday, Feb. 14, at Universal Avionics Systems Corporation.

    Steve Pagnucco, general manager of Universal Avionics, will make a presentation to the Board, followed by a panel discussion that will include representatives from:
    • Universal Avionics
    • Raytheon Missile Systems
    • Sargent Aerospace & Defense
    • Alcoa Fastening Systems

    The business meeting, presentation and panel discussion is open to the public. A tour of Universal Avionics following the panel discussion is open only to Board members and County staff.

    The meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Universal Avionics, 3260 E. Universal Way, south of Valencia Road between Country Club and Palo Verde roads. Take Lisa Frank Avenue south from Valencia and turn right on Universal Way.

    The Pima County Workforce Investment Board is appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to provide recommendations on local workforce policy and oversight of the Pima County One-Stop Career Center. The board includes representatives of local businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions.

    One-Stop works with employers in local growth, high-demand industry occupations to address their current and future workforce needs.
