The COVID-19 Schools Response Team would like to thank our schools and childcare facilities for their extensive and fruitful efforts to keep children as safe as possible during this public health emergency.pink facemask in bag hanging off back of elementary school chair

Working together, we hope to sustain the partnerships created during the response and extend the reach and equity of public health access across Pima County. We respectfully acknowledge and have shared in the great suffering and loss which have occurred, and we plan to address the lasting effects of such trauma on our schoolchildren and school communities with targeted outreach of behavioral health services.

In order to provide a lasting, safe, and full school year, we ask that you please continue to observe current best practices of prevention, including working with us to deliver COVID-19 vaccine to those under 12 years of age when it becomes available.

Tools for Educators, Administrators, & Childcare Providers

Keep your staff and charges healthy

  • Immediately separate and send home any child or staff who is ill - especially with respiratory symptoms (not allergies or chronic conditions).
  • Implement your pandemic flu plan. Review sick policies to ensure staff can stay home when ill.
  • Clean facilities using standard disinfectants.
  • Increase cleaning of high touch surfaces like doorknobs, toilet handles, and sink handles.
  • Confirm that soap and paper towels, hand sanitizer, and tissues are widely available.
  • Remind students to cover their coughs/sneezes with a tissue or their elbow.
