RWRAC Meeting Update

The Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Advisory Committee (RWRAC) held its most recent monthly meeting virtually on September 23, 2021. 

RWRD Director Jackson Jenkins opened his Director’s Report with a COVID-19 update. He said that RWRD is 77 percent fully vaccinated and that he expects the number to increase over the coming weeks as employees receive their second doses. He also invited all the committee members to the Oct. 21 ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Biogas project at Tres Ríos WRF. RWRAC

Deputy Director Jaime Rivera gave a special presentation reviewing what the Conveyance division has been working on for the past year. He explained some of the software updates that the division has done to improve efficiency, including the new online customer portal, which went live in August. Rivera also provided a review of the department’s fiscal year, as well as updates on several of its other programs. 

Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Subcommittee Chair Asia Philbin said that the subcommittee had not met recently, but plans to meet again in January. Financial Subcommittee Chair Matt Matthewson said that the subcommittee had not met recently. 

Finance and Risk Management Administration Support Services Manager Mandy Armenta provided an expense and revenue summary for Period 2 of the fiscal year 2021-22. She said that the department is on track to hit the adopted budget mark. 

Alison Jones of the Citizen Water Advisory Committee said that her committee met on Sept. 1. She said they discussed a number of subjects, including the current water delinquency rate in Pima County, which she said is about 3.5 to 4 million. The committee voted to approve the annual report, and the meeting was adjourned.
