The Green Valley Concert Band will be returning to Historic Canoa Ranch this Sunday, Oct. 24, to play an outdoor show.

The all-volunteer band, led by John Snavely, played its first Canoa Ranch show in 2015, and has returned every year since, except 2020.

“They are phenomenal musicians,” said Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation (NRPR) Special Staff Assistant Valerie Samoy. “They’re one of Canoa Ranch’s great partners. All proceeds from their shows go toward the continued restoration and improvement of the ranch.”

The show’s theme is “Fiesta,” and the lineup runs the gamut from Mexican dance music to Dixieland jazz. The band will also play a selection from “La Fiesta Mexicana,” written by the renowned composer H. Owen Reed, a one-time Green Valley resident.

The concert begins at 5 p.m. No tickets are required, but a $10 donation is suggested. Guests are encouraged to bring their own snacks and chairs for the show.

Historic Canoa Ranch is located at 5375 S. I-19 Frontage Road in Green Valley. It is operated by NRPR. For more information about the ranch and other upcoming events, visit www.pima.gov/canoaranch
