Staff from the Cultural Resources & Historic Preservation Division had the great honor of being invited to teach archaeology to grades K-3 at St. Michael's School. On Wednesday, November 3, Ian Milliken, Cultural Resources Manager, presented the fascinating world of archaeology, including providing several artifact replicas that were provided by Allen Denoyer of Archaeology Southwest. Activities involved each student "excavating" an artifact blindly from beneath a covered blanket, followed by each student working with the class to deduce what the artifact was and how it may have been used. Each student was then presented with a Junior Archaeology certificate awarded by the County.
