Vote once a day every day until April 14 to get Tucson (and surrounding Pima County, of course) recognized as the “Best U.S. Cycling Town.”

Sweetwater PreserveAccording to the 10Best website:
Cyclist George Hincapie, a former world champion and national champion, nominated Tucson for, among other things, its strong winter appeal. During the colder months, the city becomes a hotbed of cycling activity as northern-based enthusiasts come down to enjoy mild winter temps and dry conditions of the high desert.
The website then refers to “the 55-mile car-free Urban Loop,” which we locals know as The Loop and where 100 miles of shared-use paths have been completed.

The Loop, plus what the website refers to as “a whopping 700 miles of bike lanes, makes this college town a favorite with road cyclists, while the surrounding mountains, including Mt. Lemmon, provide a wide range of terrain for mountain biking.”

For maps and news about The Loop, please visit The Loop website or The Loop on Facebook.
