Safety Always

By Karen Dillingham

Safety Always isn’t just the safety slogan for RWRD; it needs to be a way of life for all of us.

RWRD continues to be dedicated to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all of our employees. It’s also important for our employees to know and understand their role in staying safe. What are the steps that you, as an employee, can take to keep yourself and your co-workers safe?

Make sure to attend all required training. Take the time to check the SDS before using a chemical that you either haven’t used before or haven’t used in a long time. Be aware of your surroundings and watch where you place your feet, hands and fingers.

Wear your personal protective equipment and make sure it’s in good condition. Use the right tool for the job and never work on a piece of equipment in which you have not yet been trained.

Look out for hazards or risks in your work area and if you see something, report it to your supervisor. Report all accidents and injuries. If you have a near-miss, report that too. We’re glad you didn’t get hurt—but we’ll still need to investigate it in case it’s something that may cause an injury in the future.

Use mechanical aids (forklifts, handcarts, etc.) when possible for lifting. Follow procedures. Keep yourself and your co-workers safe—and keep Safety Always on your mind!
