The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) Clean Air Program will celebrate People on the Move for Health, Wellness, and Planet at Cyclovia Tucson, this Sunday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cyclovia is a 5-mile-long block party with car-free streets that are open to attendees to walk, roll, bike, and play on the routes connecting Downtown Tucson and the City of South Tucson. PDEQ's People on the Move Hub will be located at the southern most point of the route, just north of Mission View Elementary School, at 8th Avenue and 36th Street in South Tucson.
Play I-Spy in our
People on the Move gallery in search of fun and simple ways people can live gently on the earth. Take a pledge to drive less (adults) or take action to help protect the air (kids) for a chance at cool prizes. Prize drawings will be held at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and it’s winner’s choice of a Hydro Flask bottle, bike pannier, scooter, insulated backpack cooler, or Loop jersey (as supplies last). Bike maps, stickers, and other resources and information will also be available.
The Pima County Health Department’s (PCHD) REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) program will also be at Cyclovia’s Santa Rita Hub, located at Santa Rita Park near 4th Avenue and 22nd Street. PCHD REACH is celebrating the return of Cyclovia with a “Tardeada de Salud” or “Afternoon of Health,” featuring music, food, fun and games, as well as free COVID shots and health screenings.
The public is encouraged to commit on this day to be car-free as Tucson works to build a more sustainable, resilient community. Consider joining thousands of people in celebrating the many ways to travel in our city by utilizing our free Sun Tran transit, bicycling, walking, or carpooling.
