Pavement PreservationOn Monday, April 4, through Thursday, April 28, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Pima County Department of Transportation and its contractor, KE&G Construction, Inc., will be milling and paving Helmet Peak Road from west of Via Puente Al Cielo to Mission Road as part of Pima County’s Road Repair and Preservation Program.

The work consists of setting traffic control, lowering utilities, milling and repaving, and temporary striping. Thermo striping is scheduled for a later date.

Flaggers will be on site during regular work hours to direct, monitor and control traffic movements through the construction zone. Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Minor delays may occur during this work.

In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.

In Fiscal Year 2021/2022, the Pima County Board of Supervisors and Transportation Department allocated $85 million in road repair and preservation funding for the Road Repair and Preservation Program.
