  • RWRAC Meeting Update

There are a number of bills at the state level being discussed this year that could affect Pima County, Deputy County Administrator for Public Works Carmine DeBonis told the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Advisory Committee (RWRAC) on April 28.

DeBonis provided the committee with a look at some of these bills, which touch on topics such as drought mitigation, water rights adjudication, and water structure finance authority. He also reviewed some water-related bills that were proposed but failed to pass.

Finance and Risk Management (FRMD) Deputy Director Andy Welch provided an explanation of the county’s emergency reserve fund and operating reserve fund, and how they are invested. RWRAC Financial Subcommittee Chair Matt Matthewson said that his subcommittee had not met within the past month.

FRMD Administration Support Services Manager Mandy Armenta provided and reviewed an expense and revenue summary for Period 9 of the fiscal year 2021-22. Finally, Alison Jones of the Citizens’ Water Advisory Committee (CWAC) provided a brief summary of the committee’s April 6 meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place virtually on May 26. To view the agendas, minutes and videos of previous meetings, visit the RWRAC page on www.pima.gov/wastewaterreclamation
