Water bottleThis week Pima County began offering heat relief services at its Kino Service Center, 2797 E. Ajo Way. In addition to providing a safe, air-conditioned space to take shelter from extreme heat, the center will provide bottled water, sunscreen, and COVID care kits, which include masks and a COVID test kit, to anyone who wants them.

These services are part of an ongoing heat relief plan developed by the Pima County Health Department in collaboration with Pima County Workforce Development. Kino Service Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., excluding holidays.

The addition of the Kino Service Center will expand the capacity of an existing heat relief network that includes Pima County Library locations, City of Tucson neighborhood centers, and local nonprofit and faith-based organizations. More information about being prepared for the danger of extreme heat is available at Pima.gov/heat.

Heat relief operations at the Kino Service Center are scheduled to operate through Sept. 15.

The County’s One-Stop Centers operate year-round, providing employment assistance to job seekers in Pima County. The centers provide services and referrals to vulnerable populations including those experiencing homelessness, and offer employment services to veterans and youth.
