The free event, which lasts from 10 a.m. to noon, is located at Manzanita Pool at 5110 S. San Joaquin Avenue. Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation (NRPR) is one of the event’s sponsors, along with the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona and Safe Kids Pima County
Fire trucks will be on hand, along with water safety information and free giveaways while supplies last.
The event is part of Drowning Impact Awareness Month, which is observed in August throughout Arizona. August is considered a high-risk month for child drownings, due to the distractions of returning to school.
According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, children ages one to four are at the highest risk of drowning deaths.
