Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program
We A.R.E. Pima County
Accordingly, we are committed to fostering accountable, respectful and ethical employment practices and behaviors that promote an inclusive workplace environment in which the uniqueness of our employees is not only recognized but actively embraced. Public sector responsibility requires that equal representation exist across the landscape of our public service workforces. To that end, in August 2022, the County established a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Program that supports and encourages County efforts to recruit and retain a diversely talented, highly motivated workforce that reflects and has the trust of the community it serves.
Key activities of the DEI Program include:
- An Interagency Taskforce - a forum for the development of ideas and projects for specific County-wide DEI activities - e. g. in the areas of recruitment, training, and performance management.
- A DEI Survey that provides important insight into employees’ perceptions of DEI, into its relevance for their work and areas where they believe DEI-related programs should be applied.
- Interagency Pilot Projects that will focus on data collection, recruitment, training and development, and conflict resolution.
- Training activities that will support the efforts of managers and staff to effectively use DEI tools as related e. g. to recruitment strategies for a qualified and diverse workforce, employee engagement, and conflict management.
It is a County-wide, inter-agency effort, which builds upon existing County DEI-related initiatives:
