  • Volunteer with Pima Animal Care Center

Want to make a difference? Join us!

Join the largest group of lifesavers in Pima County and volunteer to help PACC pets! At PACC, we rely on more than 1,000 volunteers who contribute a whopping 80,000 hours of volunteer service annually. That’s the equivalent of 40, full-time staff members. We could not save more than 90% of the pets who come through our doors without our incredible volunteer team. If you’re outgoing and passionate about helping people adopt pets, we have a job for you!

We need volunteers for just about everything we do, but our current biggest needs are:

    • Adoption Counselors. Help families find their perfect match among the hundreds of pets looking for homes. PACC needs cat and dog adoption counselors.
    • Trap Neuter Return Neighborhood Canvasser. Hand out flyers about the program to the communities that we serve.
    • Community Cat Transport Assistant. Transporting community cats to and from PACC for spay/neuter surgeries.
    • Foster team administrative support. The foster team needs helping answering emails, voicemails, and questions about fostering and pets in foster care.
    • Medical clinic assistants. Help with care of critically sick and injured pets as well as orphaned puppies and kittens. We’re always looking for people with medical expertise to help with these jobs and some of our volunteers are doctors and nurses.
    • Greeters and adoption specialists. the PACC Pilots help people find their way around the shelter.
    • Outreach  volunteers. Attend outreach events and help families in need keep their pets by providing support in the form of food, booties, leashes, collars, bowls, or information to programs that can help.
    • Enrichment volunteers. Provide socialization and enrichment to shy or scared pets or pets who are struggling with the stress of confinement.

We have lots of group volunteer opportunities and you don’t have to attend an orientation! E-mail us at paccvolunteer@pima.gov

Community restitution volunteers: We currently do not offer community service restitution at Pima Animal Care Center.

    A special volunteer opportunity: Fostering!

Volunteering in our Foster Care program is an extremely rewarding opportunity for both individuals and families. PACC's Foster Program allows our pets who are too young for adoption, who are recovering from surgery or illness, or who are in need of other special care to stay in private homes until they are able to be placed up for adoption.
