Join the largest group of lifesavers in Pima County and volunteer to help PACC pets! At PACC, we rely on 775-1,000 volunteers who contribute a whopping 62,000-80,000 hours of volunteer service annually. That’s the equivalent of 30-40, full-time staff members. We could not save more than 92% of the pets who come through our doors without our incredible volunteer team. If you’re outgoing and passionate about helping people adopt pets, we have a job for you!

    Age Requirements:

    • 12-15:
-With parent/guardian doing same activity as them, the entire time.
-Children  are free to enjoy non-animal handling activities like, jumpstart activities (Scrub Squad, Bin Buddies, Poop Fairy), enrichment, fill the pantry, reading, and more!
    • 16 and 17:
-Parents must do orientation and tour with child then sign waiver for them to be alone
-They are welcome to walk dogs once the orientation and waiver have been completed.

We need volunteers for just about everything we do, but our current biggest needs are:

    • Counselors: Help families find their perfect match among the hundreds of pets looking for homes. PACC needs cat and dog adoption counselors.
    • Greeters (PACC Pilots): Help people find their way around the shelter, answer questions, and locate specific kennels.

    • Foster Team Administrative Support: The foster team needs help answering emails, voicemails, and questions about pets in foster care.

    • Community Cat Trap Neuter Release (TNR) Trappers: Assist PACC Community Cat staff in morning rounds of picking up and dropping off traps.
    • Community Cat Transport Assistant: Transport community cats to and from PACC for spay/neuter surgeries.
    • Cat Care Medical Monitoring Assistant: Help the cat team with medical monitoring of cats in need.

    • Evening Dog Walkers: Join the dog walking team in getting dogs much needed time out of the kennel while getting exercise for yourself.
    • Enrichment Volunteers: provide socialization and enrichment to shy or scared pets who are struggling with the stress of confinement.

    • Attend outreach events and help prepare needed supplies for each location.
    • These programs help families in need keep their pets by providing support in the form of food, leashes, collars, bowls, booties, or information to programs that can help.

    Looking for group volunteer activities?

We have lots of group volunteer opportunities and you don’t have to attend an orientation! E-mail us at paccvolunteer@pima.gov

Due to COVID-19, we are limited on group opportunities but please reach out to discuss possibilities.

    A special volunteer opportunity: Fostering!

Volunteering in our Foster Care program is an extremely rewarding opportunity for both individuals and families. PACC's Foster Program allows our pets who are too young for adoption, who are recovering from surgery or illness, or who are in need of other special care to stay in private homes until they are able to be placed up for adoption.
