This project included an acquisition of land and development of the Julian Wash Linear Park from Kolb Road to Rita Road, a distance of 2.7 miles.
The IGA defines this project as improvements to the Julian Wash Linear Park, more specifically a 12’ paved path and an 8’ DG path within a corridor approximately 100’ in width. Native vegetation is included in the project between and along the paths where needed. The project includes several nodes along the segment including shade structures, seating and interpretive signage.
Additionally, the project includes signage “Julian Wash Greenway.” at the Kolb Road and Rita Road endpoints. A staging area for the Julian Wash Greenway was built at the Kolb Road end. This staging area includes parking facilities and a comfort station.
This park addresses the community’s need for trails and enhances connectivity and continued development of a growing, more complete urban pathway system. It is known today as the Urban Loop in the City of Tucson Strategic Services Plan and the Eastern Pima County Trail System Master Plan.
