Pima County and the Town of Sahuarita partnered to design and construct bike lanes along both sides of a three-mile stretch of Sahuarita Road.
Sahuarita Road is one of the main east/west thoroughfares in the Town and is adjacent to the Sahuarita school campuses and the Town Hall Complex. As such, it experiences heavy traffic demand on a daily basis. Sahuarita Road is also a popular bicycle loop through Southern Pima County, connecting bicyclists to various trails.
As a joint cooperative effort, this project greatly improved the safety and circulation element of this roadway, for bicyclists and vehicular drivers.
