About

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a summer opportunity for youth ages 14-21 who are interested in learning new skills, working in intern positions throughout Pima County and attending summer school to help youth advance in secondary education. This program is administered by Pima County Community & Workforce Development and is available during the summer months.

You can do it!

Getting ready for work, college and life can be complicated, but getting help should be simple. One call does it all: we can help you make a career plan, set long term goals, build a strong support system, gain work experience, develop your skill set, figure out what to do next summer, figure out how to pay for college, increase your self-confidence, make better choices, & more.

How To Apply

Look for the Summer Youth Application online and on paper at many locations (such as high schools and community centers) throughout Pima County during the beginning of the year for an opportunity to apply for summer programs. Or click here.

Although we cannot recommend or endorse specific programs, we encourage you to research and take advantage of the many summer programs for youth and teens offered by local public entities, not profit and community-based organizations

Are you interested in being a worksite for youth?

The summer program partners with local area business and other organizations to place youth participants at a workplace to help youth prepare for future employment and assist employers throughout the summer months. Worksite supervisors attend an orientation regarding time management, applicable child labor laws and more. Youth are employed by the program and paid a hourly wage. If your organization is interested in participating and helping us prepare youth for future employment please complete the worksite request form or call the Youth Center at (520) 724-9649.
