Eight solar powered light fixtures were installed along Acadia Drive between Santa Clara Drive and 12th Avenue plus one extra light paid for by the City of Tucson and installed on Santa Clara Avenue. Benefits provided by this new lighting include increased safety, reduced crime, neighborhood beautification and curtailed trash dumping (at Santa Clara).
This lighting will also encourage residents to walk or play outdoors, allow an increased sense of safety and security, and a more enjoyable walking experience overall.
Residents involved in the Neighborhood Reinvestment process found the experience of working with neighbors and local government to be positive. Walking paths, more street lighting and community preservation efforts represent projects for which they would like to seek funding in the future.
