All outreach programs are cancelled and we are unable to accept any requests out of an abundance of caution due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic.
The Community Relations Office (CRO) recognizes the importance of community engagement as it relates to the needs and education of the public by increasing public understanding of the value of wastewater infrastructure as a utility service that plays an integral role in our community. The CRO serves as a liaison to the media and assures that accurate information is released in a clear and timely manner.
We are committed to increasing communications with customers and the media; together by strengthening relationships with partners and stakeholders, to promote RWRD’s mission and vision through public education.
The Protect Our Pipes program educates the public about the hazards of pouring grease down household drains. Cooking grease that collects in the sanitary sewer system can clog pipes and cause sanitary sewer overflows. It also provides information about why 'flushable' wipes should never be disposed of in the sewer system as well as information about other products that should not be flushed.
The Drought Awareness program provides public education to area residents about drought conditions in Pima County and offers water conservation tips.
