Guidance for Use of DIP

The following downloads are approved A312G Applications for the use of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) in lieu of Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP) when crossing washes, separation from drainage structures, and sewage velocities exceeding 10 fps.

• Scour Procedures [per Engineering Design Standards (EDS), Appendix A]: Allows the use of PVC pipe when sewer lines are placed deeper than two (2) feet below the scour depth along or across washes.
• Separation from Other Utilities [per EDS, Section 5.1.10(A)]: Allows sewer mains to be constructed of PVC pipe when sewer mains cross below or above a drainage structure with less than two (2) feet separation.
• Velocity and Slope [per EDS, Section 5.1.3(A)]: Allows the use of PVC pipe when predicted velocities are greater than 10 fps.
• Guidance for the Use of Ductile Iron Pipe in Private Sanitary Sewers
