Sonoran Corridor The Sonoran Corridor is a planned highway connection between Interstate 19 and 10 in an area south of the Tucson International Airport. This corridor is being planned to accommodate roadway and railway facilities that will facilitate the movement of people and goods. The Arizona State Department of Transportation is currently completing a Tier 1 Environmental Impact Study of the corridor which will identify a preferred alignment. Interstate 11 (Intermountain West Corridor) Interstate 11 is a new planned multi-modal corridor between Mexico and Canada. The segment between Phoenix and Mexico, including Tucson, is being studied by the Arizona State Department of Transportation. Pima County has studied one alternative route that connects to Interstate 19 near El Toro Road in the Town of Sahuarita and travels west and north through Avra Valley. This 56-mile route crosses the Pinal County line west of the Pinal Air Park.
