  • Air Quality Hearing Board (AQHB) Information

    Pima County Code 17.04.180 establishes the Air Quality Hearing Board (AQHB), pursuant to A.R.S. §49-478, Pima County Ordinance 1990-114 and BOS action 11-13-90.  The purpose of this board is to hear arguments and make decisions on permit denial appeals, orders of abatement, conditional permits and hearing board procedures as required.

    AQHB Members

    The board consists of five members who are knowledgeable in the field of air pollution.  At least one member shall be a licensed attorney.  Membership must also include a licensed physician and a registered professional engineer, in accordance with Pima County Ordinance 1979-93, amended by 1981-12.  At least three members shall not have a substantial interest (as defined by A.R.S. §38-502) in any person required to obtain a permit pursuant to the actions of this Board.  Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors for three-year terms.  Information about  Members is maintained by Clerk of the Board.

    AQHB Meetings

    The board meets as needed and not on a regular basis.  Please check the AQHB disclosure statement for the location where notices of AQHB meetings will be posted.  Meetings are held in the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, 130 W.
