Job Assistance

Pima County Works

On March 27, 2020, Pima County launched PimaWorks.com as a one-stop resource in response to the economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The One-Stop Career Center also established a dislocated worker hotline at 520-724-5735 to assist the public in areas such as navigating the application for Arizona unemployment benefits, identifying job leads, and access to other services from the Department of Community & Workforce Development. The hotline will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Virtual Employability Skills classes are also available from the One-Stop.

The One-Stop works with local businesses to maintain a listing of available employment

Whether you are looking for work, changing careers, or exploring new career options, the Pima County One-Stop connects workers and job seekers – youth, adults, veterans, and dislocated workers – to ARIZONA@WORK, a statewide network of employment, training, and educational programs.

Kino CenterThe Pima County Department of Community & Workforce Development (CWD), the Pima County Workforce Investment Board (WIB), and the ARIZONA@WORK Pima County One-Stop partner with businesses, community organizations, government and economic entities, education and training institutions, and faith-based groups to efficiently deliver services by having common goals and measures for success.

By offering high-quality services, referrals, and training, One-Stop's customer-focused delivery network enhances long-term employment outcomes for individuals receiving assistance.

Pima County's CWD is a One-Stop service provider for the Title I-B Adult, Dislocated Worker, and Youth programs and activities as defined by the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act. CWD administers these programs to improve the economic and social sustainability of Pima County by:

  • Developing skilled workers for quality jobs
  • Assisting employers to address workforce and recruitment needs through its Business Services team
  • Mitigating the impact of layoffs
  • Assisting households in financial crisis
  • Helping persons with barriers, such as homelessness and lack of literacy, to transition into our economic talent pool

Services are offered at three locations (click here for map): The One-Stop Kino Center has been designated to assist workers who have been laid off (dislocated workers) and veterans. Adult job seekers are served at the One-Stop Rio Nuevo Center, and the One-Stop Sullivan Jackson Employment Center assists homeless youth and adults.

Three tiers of service are offered:

  1. Employment Resources

Employment Resources include labor-market information, job banks, on-line job-matching, job leads, workshops, resumes, and career counseling. There is no eligibility requirement for core services. Subscribe to One-Stop Job Leads weekly e-mail. Learn more about Direct Connect Job Club.
  2. Intensive Career Services

Intensive Career Services include vocational assessment, individualized career planning, pre-vocational adult education, job search and placement. Services are provided based on eligibility for a variety of grants targeting low-income youth and adults, dislocated (laid off) workers, veterans, and homeless job seekers.
  3. Training

Training necessary to obtain employment -- for those who meet eligibility and other requirements -- is provided from a menu of more than 300 qualified occupational training programs and through on-the-job training contracts directly with employers. An assessment is used to determine whether occupational training is appropriate, and the job seeker is assisted in preparing a training plan.
