Our 15 Animal Protection Officers (APOs) respond to thousands of calls each month and calls are answered on a priority basis. Police assists, calls about cruelty, neglect, biting and potentially dangerous animals are responded to first.

They enforce leash law and licensing compliance, investigate complaints of cruelty and neglect, respond to bite complaints and rabies concerns and address noise and waste complaints.  Where possible, provide outreach and education throughout Pima County, providing assistance to families who want to provide better care for their pets.

You can contact Animal Protection Services Dispatchers by calling 520-724-5900, extension 4.

    How to get help:

    Cruelty or neglect:

Call (520) 724-5900, extension 4 to report cruelty or neglect towards a cat, dog or other companion animal.

    Friendly free-roaming or loose dogs:

By law, dogs must be confined to their owner’s property. If you find a friendly, stray dog please help keep pets out of the shelter by trying to locate the owner or taking the dog to PACC or a local vet to scan for a microchip. Due to the fact that PACC is at or near capacity most of the year, we rely on the community to help us keep pets out of the shelter.

    Stray dogs on school grounds:

    Please call (520) 724-5900, extension 4.

Aggressive stray dogs or any bite complaints of stray or owned dogs:

    Please call 520-724-5900, extension 4.

    Deceased animal pick-up:

Call (520) 724-5900, extension 4 to report dead animals on public property and along roadsides. PACC only picks up deceased cats, dogs and other companion pets.

Pet waste complaints: Please see the Pima County process for making animal waste complaints. You can also fill out the form here.

Noise complaints: Please see the Pima County process for making animal noise complaints. You can also fill out the form here.

Any complaints in Marana or Sahuarita, please visit our FAQ page for appropriate contacts.
